Don’t Become a Twitter Zombie When It Concerns Your Internet Marketing

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

Does your company own a Twitter account to help assist with your Internet marketing? Most likely you will do, as do a lot of people. The problem with companies using Twitter to help promote themselves is that they don’t use their accounts properly to gain all the benefits possible. The main issue is down to communication, by only posting links you will lose followers, not gain. This is what I call a “Twitter Zombie”.

Everyone who uses Twitter is a human normally but there are robots that have been set up to use Twitter accounts to spam. By communicating with your followers you are able to demonstrate that you are human rather than a robot. This is the best way to gain trust amongst your followers – the more they trust you the more they are going to trust the links you post – which is why it helps promote your company.

Ways to communicate with your followers are the following:

  • By tweeting questions such as “How are you?”, “What are you doing?” or “What interests you?” you are able to initiate a conversation with your followers.
  • By sending personal messages to individual followers you are able to ask them more personal questions about their business and other intentions.
  • Advertising competitions through Twitter is a great way to both promote your company and encourage followers to converse with you.

Twitter is a great social networking which allows you to socialise with people you may never have spoken to before. The better the chance you have in finding new people the better your choice in creating new clients.

Assist Your Internet Marketing With Twitter Trends

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

If you own a Twitter account then you have probably noticed the the “Trending” module located at the bottom right of your homepage. Trends are certain keywords that have been tweeted the most that day which means trends are more likely to be news relevant rather than industry. This doesn’t mean trends can’t be utilised by yourself to give your account a surge of followers.

By using popular trends found in the “Trending” module your tweets will appear in the timeline for that keyword. This means if people view the timeline they make find your tweet amongst others. By ensuring the tweet you use is informative and relevant to the keyword people make choose to follow you. Nothing is definite as noone can control a humans actions, but by making the most of trending keywords you will give your profile some exposure to other Tweeters.

Every now and then you may strike gold with a trending keyword which has a sole purpose of attracting followers. This has happened previously and is bound to happen again so keep your eyes open for any trends you may be able to utilise to give your Twitter account more followers than you already have.

Benefiting From Your Social Networking Accounts to Evolve Internet Marketing

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Have you created an account on a social networking website such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace for your Internet Marketing campaign but have no idea how to benefit from it? Allow me to help you. By understanding what you should be doing and why you should be doing it you will be able to achieve more from your social networking accounts than you may be doing at this moment. It doesn’t take much knowledge, the only thing you must have available is time to spend conversing with the public.

The main thing you must understand when using a social networking account is that it does what it says on the tin – it allows you to become social with the public through the Internet. By neglecting your friends (Facebook & MySpace) or followers (Twitter) you will only lose numbers rather than gain them. By commencing conversation with different people you are able to make new contacts that you may not come across through the use of your website which will encourage more people to come to you rather than away.

By uploading media content for the public to view you are able to collect opinions and once again encourage the public to talk to you. By uploading media such as photos, videos or music you have the chance to show people what you can do. Ever heard of the saying “All talk and no action”, well this is where you can prove them wrong. Features like this are available for a reason, by taking advantage of what is available you have a better chance in making numbers instead of losing them.

You can ask existing contacts to help promote your profile by either posting or tweeting a link to your profile on their account. By giving your profile exposure on other established profiles you have a better chance in attracting more people. It’s not always so simple as to leave you account to wait for people to come to it, by giving the public a “doorway” to your profile they are more likely to visit it rather than ignore it.

I’m positive other advice is available to people who want to help their Internet marketing campaign evolve with the use of social networking so if anyone has any tips please leave a comment below.

Announced Twitter Feature Possible SEO Enhancement?

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Twitter has always been known as a great business tool when it comes to online marketing due to its popularity amongst the Internet. By using tweets to announce news, offers and other information followers of profiles are able to keep up to date with followed Twitter accounts. Not only is this a great advertisement method but it is also free (to an extent) which is probably one of the reasons Twitter is so popular within companies.

Now Twitter have announced a new feature which is available to developers – soon to be rolled out to the public. This feature allows annotations to be embedded into tweets giving even more information than what is available at the moment. At this time you are only able to tweet with 140 characters, but once the annotation feature is available another 512 bytes are available. This gives Twitter users the chance to add meta data such as websites, locations, reviews, events and more topics.

So why is this good for search engine optimisation fanatics? By being able to include metadata within tweets you have more chance of attracting new followers to your account which consequently allows you to advertise to an even bigger fan base than you would be able to initially. Yes there are programs which allow you to follow huge amounts of Twitter profiles in hope of gaining followers but this may be seen as a black hat technique which can get your profile penalised in the process.

This is only speculation at this time, but by being able to add metadata such as websites is definitely a reason for companies which haven’t got a Twitter account to register now and prepare for Twitter to take over when it comes to search engine optimisation.

Internet Marketing for Social Networking

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Social networking is one of the most popular services available on the Internet today and it’s no surprise why. By being available to almost everyone in the world nearly anyone has a profile on one social networking website. Whether it be Facebook, Twitter or MySpace they all meet the same objective. The difference between social networking websites isn’t much, yet each website has it’s own fan base who constantly argue that their choice of social networking is better, but in the end they all do the same thing.

Social networking is commonly used to communicate between one another, whether it be through posts on each others profiles or personal messages, there’s always a way to contact another person. Other forms of communication are available on most social networking websites such as posting photos, videos, links and other media to allow others to comment, but this all results in socialising amongst one another at some point. This means any industry can make use of more than one social networking profile and they should, almost every company does.

The challenge with using social networking is attracting new customers. This is probably due to the purpose behind a social networking profile is to make friends, not collect new clients. Fortunately as time has gone by many different brands have discovered Internet Marketing strategies which can be used to attract new people and luckily for you some of them are available for almost everyone to do.

Competitions

Every now and then an email will pop up in my inbox advertising a new competition which involves a prize draw. Usually it’s some new gadget which everyone wants but is out of their price range. The catch? By joining their social networking profile my name would be entered into the prize draw along with all the others who are hoping to win. Sometimes it can be too much of a hassle to participate in these competitions, usually if I don’t have a registered account on the chosen social networking website, but if it’s on Facebook or Twitter it only takes a couple of seconds to click ‘Like’, ‘Follow’ or  ’Add as Friend’ and that’s it. The clever thing about this form of advertising is that fact it is so easy to forget which profile, group or page you’ve joint which means your just another person they can advertise their business to.

Of course it’s a struggle to email people you don’t have any contact with, but with the help of contacts such as friends, family or other businesses it can become possible. This is definitely a method worth using if you have a little money to spend on a fantastic prize. Just bare in mind, if you don’t market the competition properly then the money you spent on the chosen prize will be in vain.

Viral Marketing

Almost every company utilising a social networking profile uses some sort of viral marketing. Whether it be through the use of images, videos, games or other forms of media there is a way you can use viral marketing to attract new profiles to yours. Some methods may prove more costly than others, but by being creative and breaking from the mould you have a huge chance of attracting more people than you expected. Some viral marketing campaigns I have come across have been good, some not so good, but in the end someone is going to do what you want so use your imagination.

Advertising

Recently some social networking websites have given people the chance to advertise across the website. This can prove very costly and may not work. If your company doesn’t have a big budget then it’s best to steer away from advertising as it can eat away at your money until there is no more which isn’t worth doing over promoting a social networking profile.

These are only a couple of methods you can use to promote your profile but I’m positive there are many other methods available to use. If you have any others then please leave a comment, the more the merrier.

SEO For Your Twitter

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Do you own a Twitter account or thought about creating one? Then you may be interested to know that there are certain search engine optimisation (SEO) techniques you can use to optimise your account. Don’t avoid using a Twitter account, there are many advantages you can gain from one for your business such as being able to find new people, converse with people and advertise links to your website.

Whenever dealing with social network accounts you should always treat them as you would with a website. By optimising them correctly you have just as much chance to rank highly in search engine results as websites would.

A few SEO tips to consider with your Twitter account are as follows:

  • Ensure you have your URL visible in your profile, it doesn’t take long to type in and will help other users find your website.
  • Choose an appropriate use name for your Twitter account. By choosing an irrelevant name you will lose any chance of ranking in search results for your chosen keywords.
  • Make sure that you optimise your description by including your chosen keywords. Your description is used as the meta tag information for your profile so by including your keywords you are more likely to be found.
  • Your background can be used to display more information. You’re allowed to upload any background image you like so by including information about your services or company in the image you will be able to get more information across to visitors.
  • Converse with your followers by asking and answering questions. By showing a human controls the profile people build more trust towards your Twitter profile.
  • Not many people know that by using hash tags you will help your profile be found by other users. By placing a “#” next to keywords such as SEO your tweet will appear in search results for that keyword when searched.
