How to Create An Internet Marketing Blog Post

Monday, September 6th, 2010

The following are 4 key tips to ensure that your blog posts are Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Internet Marketing friendly.

1st To begin with, make sure use your search terms in the title.

The title of the post is perhaps the most important aspect of the whole blog. This is because when Google reads a website to index it, it reads only from the code and the norm in HTML coding is that the title is placed near the top of the code. This will be one of the first elements of the code that Google reads and the way that Google works is that it generally assumes that elements appearing the earliest in the code are the most important.

Google doesn’t see any fancy layouts that a human might add through CSS or something similar so you can cleverly place the title in your post as long as in the HTML it is near the top of the code. Think carefully about what your title could be by trying to include your key search terms and strategically place them in your title as near to the front as possible but be warned, take great care not to make the title difficult to read or understand by humans because then the effort would be wasted. There’s no point in bringing extra traffic to your blog if people are just going to look at the title and then go elsewhere.

Keep to as little search terms in the title as possible. It’s rare that you will gain ranks with more than one or two search terms in the title. If you want to create rankings for another term then it is better to just write another blog post.

2nd Linking is key

Google and other search engines look at a blog post and if the post has linking to it then the search engine generally assumes that the post has more authority than others. Don’t just assume that having links incoming will improve ranking, Google also looks at the words and links exactly.

Links to generic terms and services will not raise your ranking in the way that links to a specific branded product will. For example, you won’t receive a rank boost from linking through a site for “electric gates” like you would from linking to a worldwide known brand such as MacDonald’s or Coca Cola. It would be extremely difficult to get your post linking onto to brands like these but the principle is still there.

This way, a more popular site will be sending untold quantities of traffic to your blog post. Also place links within your post to other pages in your site. It will make a positive difference to your page rank but take care not to go over the top with it. This is because not only will humans on your post be put off by the constant links, but Google may also penalize you.

3rd Tagging Moderation

Every good blog posting services allows you to add tags to your post. This is so that your post can be organized so that both search engines and humans can find what they’re looking for.

This can be good for page ranking but only if done correctly and in moderation. Placing your post into categories can help bring in traffic from people looking for other things in the same category as where your blog post is. However, take care when adding tags because if you add too many, then Google and other search engines may suspect you of trying to link to pages of no relevance through categories with the aim of boosting traffic.

If Google suspect your post and you of doing this then you will be penalized in the rankings.

4th Research

Google is the most popular search engine in the world and this is why it would make sense to focus your efforts around Google. When attempting to figure out what to put as your key words or search phrases, if you’re unsure, Google can help.

There’s a web based program called “Google Insights” this can be used to identify what terms are more popular than others. In example, if you have a tattoo shop and you can’t decide whether to have “tattoo shop” or “body art shop” as your search terms, then Google insights can show you which of the two is more popular so you know what to go for.

This is free and can prove to be a very useful tool for helping you to make your blog post more SEO friendly.

Relevant Media is Just as Good for SEO

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

By composing relevant content for your website you will help increase your chances of ranking highly in search engine result pages. This is because relevant content is vital if you using search engine optimisation (SEO) with your website. The problem with websites today is that they don’t realise that composing relevant text is fine for SEO but there’s plenty of other content you can use on your website to strengthen it further. Media types are as follows:

By ensuring that you use different content you are able to add more information to your website which means visitors don’t always have to read through paragraph after paragraph. This has huge potential in grabbing peoples attention if done correctly as some people who visit the website may only look for images for example, just as some readers do when reading a newspaper. By giving more information in a user-friendly format you are filling any gaps that may exist without knowing. Remember, be proactive not reactive, if you give visitors a chance to complain you’ve realistically lost their interest already.

Ensure your Press Releases are SEO Friendly

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Optimising your press releases is as easy as ABC but that doesn’t mean everyone know how to do it. By making sure your press releases are search engine optimisation friendly you will build link justice without spending money on incoming links.

Press releases allow companies to deliver news and event news to the Internet which can be found through search engines quickly. The press release should be written in such a way that it should rank highly in the search engines for your chosen keywords and help your website collect important backlinks which will help boost the websites position in the search engine rankings.

A list of keywords should be prepared before a press release is composed. Long tail keywords usually have less competition but also generate more total searches than short tailed keywords.

Your title is the key to attracting readers, the better it is the more likely you are to get more traffic to your website. The title gets massive exposure so by including a keyword in will help you optimise your press release better.

The summary of your press release should be within 250 characters and include secondary keywords to optimise weaker keywords for your press release. Combined with your titles keyword will help strengthen the article much better.

The body of the press release should exceed a minimum of 300 words, including 3-4 keywords including the keyword used in your title and summary. The body of the article is crawled by search engines and used as a description in SERP, so by ensuring proper keywords are included you will eliminate any gaps missed by missing possible opportunities. Link your important keywords to relevant pages in your site, avoiding the front page. Formatting the keywords further will help them stand out to readers.

The topic of your press release does not need to be stunning to be exciting. News happens everywhere despite the topic, so by choosing the correct topic for your press release you will target the relevant audience for your website.

The press release should be written in a users point of view, using the language that is typically discovered when searching within the chosen topic. Include the company logo for branding and insert photos, graphics, video links and any other media to help readers find out more information through other forms of media other than text.

Distribute your press release in the correct place. It’s no good dumping your release in as many submission sites as possible, by sending it to the correct places it will help your article to be found by the correct audience. By ensuring the readers make use of the information you provide they will certain to come back for more.

So remember, by ensuring your article is SEO friendly you will collect a fresh stream of traffic to your website.

Search Engine Optimisation Procedure

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Google refusing to index your website and can’t figure out why? Here’s a couple of methods you can try with your website to try and convince Google to index your website. Once indexed you will then be able to experience the benefits of having PageRank for your website. Whether the benefits be more sales or revenue from advertisement, you will definitely feel better once Google has indexed your website.

The first step you should take is to be patient. If your website is new then it will take much longer to optimise than it would with an older website. People think by creating lots of content and adding it to their website then Google will eventually index their website, this is not the case. Google has no set time period to when it will index websites, by adding more content you will only be wasting your time because Google will only retrieve the last thing added, due to it being Googles first visit.

The second step you should ensure you take is to find a well ranked website and try to get a backlink. With a backlink Google will find you website much faster. This is because the website you are linking from will be checked frequently for new content, and by finding your newly added link it will follow it to your website. Once Google has noticed your website has no PageRank it will index your website, giving you the start you need to optimise your website for SEO.

So remember, if you are struggling in getting your website cached, be patient and don’t be afraid to talk to other webmasters, some may be kinder than others.
